About us

Owning a Bed & Breakfast in a small Texas town was the last thing on the minds of Kay and Conor McAnally in 2004 when they first laid eyes on their historic home in Downtown Bastrop. Conor, a native of Dublin, Ireland, and Kay, who grew up in Austin, Texas, were living in London, England, where they had made their home for 17 years. But within half an hour of first laying eyes on their future home at 502 Elm Street, they had made an offer – it was accepted, and the Manlove Chambers House was theirs.

Conor moved his television production company from London to Los Angeles and began commuting from L.A. to Bastrop on weekends. Kay went to work remodeling and decorating their home with English antique furniture that dated from the 1750’s to 1930’s. Making friends was easy in Bastrop and one of them happened to own a Bed & Breakfast business. The friend found herself with too many wedding guests for one event so Kay volunteered to open her home to some of them for the weekend.

One of the guests turned out to be a magazine travel writer. He convinced Kay that she should open the “Best kept secret in Bastrop”, to discerning travelers who would appreciate the history, furnishings, decor and hospitality that he had enjoyed. Kay and Conor have enjoyed sharing their home with guests ever since.
